[TOP] What is Life Care at Westminster Manor? Life Care is the secure feeling knowing you can live in an independent living apartment home and never need to move to another community should your health care needs change. It’s a financial advantage as well. The concept was pioneered by Life Care Services LLC in the 1960’s and today Life Care has become one of the most popular options in retirement living. Residents pay an entrance fee upon moving to a Life Care retirement community and are then guaranteed access to 24-hour nursing care with virtually no additional expenses. The Life Care plan significantly reduces the worries about the affordability or availability of future health care services. You never have to worry about where you will go for care or who will take care of you. [TOP] How does Life Care compare to my current living arrangement? Instead of worrying about the future, the Life Care concept is your opportunity to embrace it. Residents at Westminster Manor have a clear plan for their future including: - Life Care program which offers you independent living combined with the peace of mind knowing you have planned for unexpected health care needs, should they ever arise. - Financial advantages with two plans available that help you better manage such future uncertainties like rising nursing care costs. - One community can provide you all the comforts of independent living and the support of an on-site Health Care Center if needed. [TOP] How much does it cost? The cost of living at Westminster Manor consists of a one-time entrance fee and a monthly service fee. A variety of floor plans and financial options make it easy and affordable to come home to Westminster Manor. We offer two financial options:
What does the monthly service fee cover? Residents of Westminster pay a monthly fee based on the type of apartment floor plan selected. The fee includes a meal plan and all the services and amenities within the community, including unlimited days in Westminster Manor’s Health Care Center at virtually no additional charge. Included monthly are: 30 meals per person, weekly housekeeping, electricity and cable (telephone and Internet not included), scheduled transportation, plus social and recreational activities. Residents also have the added conveniences of on-site maintenance and the security of an emergency call system. We invite you to visit with us personally to learn more. [TOP] What are the living options like? Independent, active and fulfilling – this is the focus for life within the independent living community at Westminster Manor. Residents appreciate the comfort and privacy of their own apartments, decorated in their own unique style and favorite furnishings. Here, one-, two- and soon, three-bedroom apartments are equipped for busy lives with full kitchens and baths. Some apartments have private balconies. New independent living options and assisted living residences are planned for 2011. [TOP] What types of amenities are available? The following community amenities are available:
What types of dining options are available? Westminster Manor puts fine dining at your doorstep. We have a longstanding reputation for exceptional cuisine and dining services and our Executive Chef is renowned for making the Westminster experience memorable. With an ever-changing menu prepared with the freshest ingredients, you can choose from nutritious meals to satisfy your taste. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the main dining room. Catering services for private parties and special events are also available. You’ll also find a flexible dining program, giving you the freedom to enjoy meals whenever you choose during the course of the month. In addition, many Westminster floor plans feature full kitchens for residents who enjoy cooking for themselves. [TOP] What activities are available? Opportunity awaits you with a wide variety of activities including fitness programs, shopping excursions, lecture series, musical programs and special events. Westminster also provides scheduled transportation and organizes activities outside our community to local museums, the Austin Symphony, theater productions and day trips to historical and fun-loving locales. You ultimately decide how you enjoy each day. There is no pressure to participate in any of our offerings … you are free to enjoy as much or as little as you like. [TOP] What health care is available at Westminster? As a Life Care community, it’s comforting to know you can enjoy independent living and skilled nursing care—all in one location. Westminster Manor has an on-site 90-bed Health Care Center with 24-hour nursing care and rehabilitation services including physical, occupational and speech therapies. The Health Care Center can provide short-term support for those recovering from medical incidents and long-term care for those who might need supervision on a daily basis. An expanded Health Care Center is planned for 2011 with new skilled nursing rooms and a Special Care Residence with memory support. [TOP] Are there fees for the Health Care Center? Because Westminster Manor is a Life Care community, residents are automatically entitled to unlimited days of health care in the on-site Health Care Center at virtually the same monthly fee they pay for their current apartment. The Residency Agreement provides all fee details. [TOP] Will monthly fees increase? Yes, it is reasonable to expect annual increases in monthly fees to offset increases in the cost of utilities, staff salaries and operating expenses. However, you would be notified in advance of any price increase. [TOP] If I have long-term care insurance, do I still need to consider a Life Care community? Ask yourself: “What do I expect from my long-term care insurance?” Most policies do not guarantee where you will go to receive care, so if you have an idea about the quality and a specific location you want in the future, this is something to consider. Many top quality health care centers fill up fast and have a waiting list. So, you might end up receiving financial benefits from your policy, but spending time in a health care center that is not of your choosing. At Westminster Manor, the Life Care program ensures you have access to a continuum of on-site health care. These services are available to you when needed, for as long as needed, at virtually no increase in your monthly fee. Westminster Manor lets you lock-in care here … the place of your choice. You are assured quality care in our Health Care Center, in the event of a health challenge … so you’ll be in a community of neighbors and staff who already know you. Some long-term policies pay a daily benefit even if the policyholder is a resident in a Life Care community. This means that while you are receiving long-term care at Westminster Manor, you could receive the benefit paid by your long-term care insurance policy as well. You could apply this payment to your monthly fee at Westminster. Check with your insurance broker to verify the specific benefits of your policy. [TOP] When is the right time to plan a move to Westminster Manor? The right time to consider a move to a retirement community is when you are able to make the decision for yourself and before a health problem arises that may affect your ability to qualify for residency. Those who have made the decision themselves to live at Westminster Manor are relieved they chose to move sooner, rather than later. It is a smart choice to make early in your retirement so you can take advantage of all our community offerings that help you stay active—physically and socially—independent and strong. Residents also appreciate the control they have over their lifestyle decisions, rather than leaving that choice up to their children. [TOP] Who sponsors and manages Westminster Manor? Westminster Manor is a non-for-profit community governed by a local Board of Directors. It is managed by one of the industry’s most respected companies, Life Care Services LLC (LCS). LCS, with more than four decades of experience, is the nation’s leading and most progressive force in the senior living industry, currently serving over 23,000 residents in more than 80 communities nationwide. [TOP] What are the tax advantages in residency at Westminster Manor? Life Care plans have potential tax advantages. Part of the entrance fee is deemed to be medical costs and a resident may be able to deduct a percentage of the entrance and the monthly fee on their income tax return. [TOP] How do I apply for a Westminster Manor residence? To become a resident, you must be 62 years of age or older and possess income and resources sufficient to meet financial requirements. Qualifications also require a current medical questionnaire to be completed by your physician and evaluation prior to move in confirming your ability to meet requirements for residency. [TOP] If I have more questions, how can I get them answered? Call the Marketing Department at Westminster Manor at (512) 454-4643 to speak with a representative or make an appointment for a personal visit and a complimentary lunch. [TOP] |
